Lines of the city

Lines of the city

The camera reduces our three-dimensional world to a two dimensional construct within a frame. Lines and shapes and colours take on a different kind of importance to us, and once more we appreciate the slight changes in angle and position that change the way a scene looks, from the ordinary to the abstract.

Stepping out from the quietude of the museum, with its clean-cut lines and careful lighting, I roam a city engorged with seasonal consumers, and I find myself peering down paths as yet unchallenged, seeking spots oft-overlooked. I remember the lines and shapes, the shade and light, and the familiar once again becomes the alien. I look about with new-found naivety, and around every corner, behold wonder.
