Cosplay shoot: Beast Master and Prince

Cosplay shoot: Beast Master and Prince

Sometimes shoots don’t always go the way you plan, but they turn out all the better because of the circumstances. Well, not financially in this case, but result-wise, I am glad I adopted an available-light-plus-reflector technique.

I used my new umbrella softbox for all of uhm…once, and just when I had it set up and ready to go for this shoot with Ayuvivian and Tammu, a nice soft gust of wind took it down.

This is why you normally work with sandbags, but I still consider them far too onerous to be carrying around with me. Anyway, with the lighting equipment out of action, I just used available light and a reflector (held by the cosplayers, of course).

I have a new-found love for my 50mm lens (as I am sure I would have a love for any other prime I happen to have: too bad I only have the one) and so I stuck with that most of the shoot.

And I must say the combination of 50mm and available/reflector lighting works nicely especially given that the look of the original material (an otome game) is all kinds of of bright and vibrant.

Anyways check them here! Thanks Ayuvivian and Tammu for inviting me to shoot!
